5 Easy ways to Reduce Stress

Even being at low-levels of stress increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes. In some cases, acute stress can even cause a sudden death. Take care of the body and live a longer healthier life. Here are some great easy ways you can reduce stress!

Staying Focused on New Year Resolutions

RES·O·LU·TION

noun

1. a firm decision to do or not to do something

It is a month into the year 2016 and for most, a month into their new year resolutions. Resolutions vary from saving money to even re-kindling relationships, with losing weight being the steady most consistent resolution among most of the population. If you are anything like me, there is nothing worse than to listen to someone talk about making big positive changes in their life and realize they lack to persevere. Whichever your firm decision to do or not to do something may be, the most important key factor to success is to stay focused and the next several methods may help one stay focused.

  •  MAKE GOALS

Making short-term easily obtainable goals is huge for reaching the vision of your ideal future. Being precise on what you want to accomplish will help you realize what you want in life instead of being lead astray. It also makes concentrating on efforts a lot easier and helps keep track of every achievement. Making action plans and putting them in writing has its benefits when making goals.

  • TRACK PROGRESS

Reaching milestones is extremely essential and tracking progress will bring to light all the great efforts you put forth. It is easy to focus on your failures which in return, will make it even easier to give up. Tracking progress helps counteract focusing on the negative and lets you dwell in the positive so that you do not lose sight of what you want to accomplish.

  • MOTIVATE YOURSELF

I know many people who make goals, and then they procrastinate. The problem is that they lack optimism. Negativity tends to hold many things back and success is one of them so it is important to have an optimistic mind before making resolutions. Surround yourself with people that want you to succeed. If you want to lose weight, find a steady gym partner or join several weight loss support groups on Facebook. The main point is hem yourself with people with your same mind-set that can give you some peer pressure to stay on track with your resolutions. Also, reward yourself when you've reached a milestone, and then keep going!

"Make goals, track progress, and motivate yourself!"

Make 2016 the year your resolutions come true; make a statement! Prove people wrong and most importantly, prove to yourself that you are more than capable of achieving your desires.

The First Step to Losing Weight

Losing weight is never an easy thing to do. It could  be because one may lead a hectic lifestyle and don't have time to plan healthy meals, or because  having a family to support that going on diet and having an exercise routine can be a pretty hard or  costly thing to do. Whichever the reason may be, one should not lose focus on achieving a healthier lifestyle. So what can we do to begin a health conscious journey? The answer is in your drink.

The greatest advice I have ever received as I was beginning to watch my weight and become a health conscious freak was,  "Don't drink your calories." Replacing caloric beverages with water should be the first and most important step to not only losing weight, but overall health. I never imagined how many calories a cup of milk or orange juice has until I paid attention to the nutrition label; reading nutrition labels religiously is a great habit to form. I thought those drinks were so healthy for you, so I used to drink more than just a cup several times a day. Nope, wrong. I ate meals worth. Personally, saving daily calories for food instead was the best thing I could have done for my body. I lost 6 lbs in two weeks from drinking solely water and non-caloric beverages. Since taking this initial step, I feel my body stays hydrated throughout the day and since then, saw my skin clear from breakouts and blemishes; of course all this while keeping a balanced diet.

But drinking so much water can get pretty boring, so spritzing a little bit of lemon and Stevia (a natural sweetener) to change it up once in a while helps me stay on track and get some Vitamin C while I am at it. Drinking tea and coffee without sugar or cream are okay too.  Also, obtaining a large water bottle in sight helps me constantly drink water throughout the day.

"Don't drink your calories"

I live this advice everyday and have seen many great effects come from it. Try it for two weeks and see what happens.
